The Luck of Banderillas
It's end is to exalt the personality of the bravest bulls. It is a spectacular action. It is normally done by one of the bullfighter's assistants, although some bullfighters choose to do it. In that case the banderillas are more attractive to watch.
Each bull has three pairs of Banderillas: cilindric wooden instruments 75 centimetres long that have a harpoon in it's end.
There are several ways of doing it. The most common are:
- AL QUIEBRO: The matador stands in front of the bull (in the boards or close to the center), he provokes the bull into charging him and he waits for the beast with his feet together. Moments before the encounter he fakes movement with his foot and/or inclining his body to the side where he wants his opponent to pass, and just when the bull moves his head down the banderillero recuperates his natural position and stabs the sticks.
- FRONTWARDS: FRONTWARDS: it's when the cuarteo is done in a minimum space. He moves towards the bull practically straight.
- AL SESGO: Another variant of the cuarteo. The reunion takes place in the center. The matador stands and starts quickly without cuartear.
- FROM INSIDE OUT:FROM INSIDE OUT: The matador stands in the inside, that is, between the bull and the boards
