In Madrid we have one of the best commuter train networks, with a renown punctuality and operational effectiveness. Comfortable, safe and climatized, they can be a great help to you at the time of travel, mainly to the suburban towns outside the capital.

Cercanías (the local comutter train network) runs like clock-work.

Similar to other means of transportation, if you are going it to use on weekdays and during rush hour (7:30 to 9:30) prepare yourself to be squished and pushed. This is occurs daily in the capital.

Renfe (national train operator in Spain) offers a nearly unlimited number of options so that you can do whatever you want to do and there'll be an offer to accomodate your needs. Here you have a few of them:

Groups Travelling 10 people as a minimum , children will get a reduction up to 50 per cent and adults a discount up to 40 per cent.
University Trimester Pass Of daily use , for unlimited trips. Only for Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad de Alcala de Henares' students.
Pass 1, 3, 5 It is a pass that allows traveling for 1,3, or 5 consecutive days with no limitation of trips. Prices vary according to the days for which the pass has been acquired.
