On the Go

Eating on the run is a newly developing art form in Madrid. With such importance placed upon the enjoyment of the meal, it was not until most recently that fast food establishments began to thrive. As in nearly every country around the world, there are a gander of McDonalds and Burger Kings serving food that can in no way be called Spanish, a few places have adapted traditional Spanish eating to a newer, faster pace world. Particularly visible are Bocadillerías or Bocaterías which specialize in sandwiches on freshly baked baguette bread made while you wait. If you got a craving for a good ole "P, B, & J" this might a difficult task. Sandwiches abound in the aforementioned 2 types of rapid food establishments, but peanut butter is not something you're likely to find in most places. Many pizzerias now have delivery services, as well as the traditional take out/to-go option.
